Artist Appreciation - Stuart Patience

Today I wanted to share one of my current favorite artists, Stuart Patience. A London-based freelance illustrator, his work ranges from "highly detailed, technical drawings to simplified abstractions that focus on pattern and color." I absolutely love his work for its details and, for lack of a better term, its "weirdness." He brilliantly takes different elements that wouldn't normally go together and crafts them into illustrations that could only be called masterpieces.

I find some of his work to be sort of creepy, like this one above, but in a really hauntingly beautiful way. On his website, Patience says he is inspired by the "aesthetics of scientific and mathematical drawings, architectural structures and bizarre forms of nature," and I think those influences show through in his art is the most creative and thoughtful of ways.

You can check out his blog and official site for more awesome artwork, and you can purchase some of his work here.
